How to Reduce the Photo Size on Samsung Galaxy within the Gallery App

There is a time when you really need to re-size an image or reduce the photo size to upload online from right from your smartphone. As you all know, the latest Galaxy flagship smartphones come with a gigantic and high-resolution camera setup and the image size would certainly be more than 5 MB most of the time. Meanwhile, in this particular post, you are going to learn how to reduce a photo size or resize an image on Samsung Galaxy devices running Samsung One UI 2.1 or One UI 2.5 based ON Android 10 using the native Gallery app.

However, most of the people have asked questions related to resizing an image on Galaxy phones like how to change picture size on Samsung phone? how to resize an image on Samsung Galaxy S10? or how to reduce photo file size on Samsung S9? In the meantime, those Galaxy users who don’t know that they reduce the picture size within the Gallery app if they have already updated to One UI 2.1 based on Android 10.

Meanwhile, Samsung One UI 2.1 based on Android 10 brings some extraordinary features such as Music Share, Quick Share, Single Take, My Filters, Resize Image, and more for their Galaxy smartphones. Now, you can easily resize an image on your Samsung phone within the Gallery app using the Resize Image feature and there’s no need to download third-party apps for compressing or resizing your high-quality images.

However, as far as One UI 2.1 is concerned, most of the Galaxy devices Including S9, S9+, S10, S10+, Note 9, Note 10, Note 10 Plus has received One UI 2.1 update while the S20 series have already received the latest One UI 2.1 update.

How to Reduce the Photo Size on Samsung Galaxy S9 & Later Galaxy Devices

If you have already updated your Samsung S9 or later devices to One UI 2.1 then you can reduce the picture size by resizing the image within the Gallery app and without using third-party image resizer tools. Here’s how to reduce the photo size on Samsung Galaxy within the Gallery app without using any image resizer app.

Step 1. Go to your Gallery app and find the picture that you want to reduce the size of it.

Step 2. Tap on the Edit button looks like a pencil icon at the bottom of your screen.

Step 3. Tap the three dots icon on the top right-hand corner and then select Resize image.

Step 4.  Choose your preferred resized image percentage to reduce the photo size, then tap on Done.

Step 5. Finally, tap Save.

Once the image has been resized you will notice within the photo details the size of the picture file will be reduced. However, when an image resizes then it will lose its quality a bit.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the size of the photo has been significantly reduced from 8.09 MB to 1.19 MB.

This is how you can resize or reduce the photo size on Samsung Galaxy phones using the Gallery app. Unfortunately, the Resize image feature is only available for Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 2.1 based on Android 10. But the good point is even Galaxy devices like S9, S9+, and Note 9 will receive One UI 2.1 update.
