Top 9 Best Alternatives to WhatsApp to Use in 2021

The Facebook-owned WhatsApp Messenger is the most popular message app on the planet. The organization launches new updates on a daily basis to ensure that they stay at the top. Not all appear to be pleased with WhatsApp, though. WhatsApp has also revised its privacy policies to explain how the data is treated within the Facebook family of applications and products. It is obvious from the policies that the company gathers a lot of telemetry data from your computer. Then there’s the fact that everybody is using WhatsApp these days, but we’re not going to fault you if you find it’s a bit too distracting. In this post, we will mention the top 9 best alternatives to WhatsApp or apps similar to WhatsApp.

Furthermore, WhatsApp maintained that this was actually shifting, with more clarity about what details it was already exchanging with Facebook providing the key bulk of the new rules. Information from company discussions would now be exchanged, but that was about it and would not influence anybody who did not do all of it.

WhatsApp, Facebook, and people outside the UK will not be allowed to see the contents of encrypted messages or your contacts list. Owing to local data security regulations, the EU and the EU have been entirely exempted.

Originally, this new regulation would have come into effect on February 8, but WhatsApp has now moved it back to May 15, supposedly giving people time to read it and understand what was going on. Yet the harm has already been done, and we’ve seen millions flee to competing networks ever since.

9 Best WhatsApp Alternatives or Similar Apps Like WhatsApp

So where are you going when you leave WhatsApp? There are a lot of secure messaging systems out there, and the best one for you is not always easy to find out. We’re here to help, though.

These are the perfect WhatsApp replacements that you can download right now if you are hell-bent on quitting WhatsApp.

Here’s the best WhatsApp alternatives or similar apps to WhatsApp:

1. Signal Private Messenger: Best WhatsApp Alternatives

Signal Private Messenger

Signal Foundation is delivering end-to-end encryption technology for WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger is offering Signal Private Messenger. Signal has several security advantages and has screen security that effectively stops someone from taking screenshots. Another advantage is that Signal does not connect data to your name. The signal is very popular with journalists because it helps you to speak safely. This is available for download on both Android and iOS. But, if you’re looking for a safe WhatsApp solution, keep Signal Private Messenger in mind.

2. Telegram Messenger: Recommended Alternatives to WhatsApp

Telegram Messenger

For a while now, Telegram Messenger has been renowned as the greatest WhatsApp rival and little has changed. The best WhatsApp solution out there is indeed the open-source chat app. The latter brings other functions, such as mega communities of up to 100,000 members, public forums, usernames, the ability to exchange files of up to 1.5 GB, passcode lock, self-destructing messages, and end-to-end hidden chat encryption, among other items, along with the regular messaging features that both WhatsApp and Telegram pack.

There are Telegram Bots, then, that really boost the experience. Not only do the bots carry you crucial details on the go, but there are several game bots inside the messenger app that encourage you to play games. Other than that, Telegram can be used concurrently on many channels, unlike WhatsApp, so you can start messaging on your phone and then begin on your PC. I love the voice call feature here too, which works pretty well.

That said, Telegram does not have a video calling capability. But by having very distinctive features that are not present on WhatsApp, it makes up for it. So, you can’t go wrong by choosing Telegram Messenger as your chat app if you don’t care about video calls.

3. Google Messages

Google Messages

Google Messages is the response to iMessage from Google, and it is accessible via Google Play to all Android users and always right out of the box. Google Messages is basically iMessage except for Android, designed to replace the current SMS app and compatible with all Google services (and Windows, but not Macs or iOS).

When you are contacting someone else with Google Messages, end-to-end encryption is instant and you can transfer all the normal photos and files as you can with anything like WhatsApp.

video and voice calling are what messages don’t have because all of it is done by Google Pair. That’s right: for whatever reason, just as iMessage and FaceTime are still distinct, so are Messages and Pair, although the latter is not exclusive to Android smartphones.

The good news is that you actually already have Duo loaded on your Android phone, and it’s free to download from Google Play if it’s not. You will get a Duo from the Apple App Store for iPhone users.

4. Threema

Threema

Threema is an app devoted to full anonymity, with the possibility of completely private use of the app. If you want people to be able to reach you, you can link it to your email or phone number, but unlike certain applications, that’s not necessary.

It also helps you to naturally share email, speech, image, and video messages, all of which are encrypted. You can even create group chats, submit photos, and even set up polls to gain input from all your contacts more quickly. What’s more, it has a stable browser built-in, and everything is saved on your phone like WhatsApp instead of some obscure folder that everyone can use.

5. Bridgefy

Bridgefy

One of the coolest WhatsApp replacements is Bridgefy. It’s an offline messaging app that helps you to chat while you don’t have internet access, and you can use it easily by clicking on Bluetooth. When you know that you would not have reliable cell service, it is perfect for conditions like music festivals and natural disasters. This also helps encrypted conversations to end which is, in my view, the perfect solution for offline WhatsApp. The software can be downloaded for free on both Android and iOS.

6. Kik

Kik
If you’re like me, and you don’t want to send your number to the press, Kik is certainly the app for you. You can easily register by using your email ID, and then you’ll get a special username that you can share with anyone. There’s a special feature in Kik that you’ve got bots to play quizzes and get the latest news. It’s available for free on Android and iOS, and if you want your phone number to be confidential, this is certainly an option for you.

7. Snapchat

Snapchat
One of the most preferred WhatsApp replacements by tech experts is Snapchat. It’s got some very wonderful features that are my highlights. My favorite texts are self-destructive messages. It also means that if someone takes a screenshot or replays something I’ve submitted. Apart from that, it has a wide variety of filters that you can use to take pictures and videos of yourself and your friends. It allows you the privilege of community voice and video calls. Snapchat is available for free on Android and iOS, and you can download it automatically.

8. Keybase

Keybase
For your data to be safe, Keybase provides end-to-end security, and it can be assured that nobody is exploiting your sensitive information. My personal favorite aspect of Keybase is that it doesn’t encourage you to take a chat screenshot. It’s fine for you if you’re really looking for anonymity. You don’t need someone’s phone or email ID to connect to someone else.

9. WeChat

WeChat
WeChat has more than 1 billion active daily users mainly in China. The app accounts for the exchange of text, speech, and content. For businesses with customized resources and account management, WeChat also provides a more robust alternative.

Users will more quickly combine WeChat profiles with Facebook and email for curating connections. “The app also provides location features such as Friend Radar” and “People Nearby” in order to identify nearest friends and contacts.

Final Words

These were the 9 best WhatsApp alternatives in 2021. There are a lot of other pretty good chat applications, such as IMO, Line, etc. However, the above applications are the best you can use if you are looking for an app to replace WhatsApp. Although none of these applications can equal the user base that WhatsApp has, as far as privacy features are concerned, they are more than decent enough to replace it.

  1. To my mind, most of the messengers can be a better alternative to WhatsApp, especially as in latest times, everything that appears has a much better encryption. I speak about messengers like Tox, Utopia p2p, Signal.. There’s a good choice so don’t be stuck on something one of them.
