What is Smart Select?
Smart select choose allows you to pick, clip, and save whatever piques your interest so you can simply share it with your friends or on social media right soon or later.
Smart choose the content with your S Pen, regardless of its shape or size, to record it all in one swift motion. Capture large pages that require scrolling as a single image and scribble comments on top of it. GIFs can also be simply made from videos.
Smart Select Features
Smart Select is a Galaxy feature that allows you to take a rectangle or oval-shaped screenshot, generate animation, and pin a portion of the screen. However, when I recently employed this feature, I discovered that it is also capable of extracting text from images.

Enable Samsung Smart Select
In order to use Samsung Smart Select to extract texts, you’ll need to enable it first on your Galaxy phones.
Here’s how to enable it:
- Navigate to the Settings app and then tap Display.
- Enable Edge panels.
- Once enabled tap Panels and select Smart select.
How to Smart Select to Extract Text on Galaxy Phone
Once you enabled the Samsung Smart select then you can easily extract texts from any image.
Step 1. Go to the page or open an image that you want to extract text from.
Step 2. Open the Edge panel with a swipe until you get to Smart select. Tap Rectangle, adjust the rectangle size, and tap done.
Step 3. Tap Extract text.
Note: You will be asked to download OCR Service from the Galaxy Store. Tap Download and after that tap Install.
Step 4. Once extracted, You can either copy to share it with your friends.
